Hello Everyone,
If I had to pick just one concept that I employ on a daily basis it would be the Platinum Rule. This rule is a good outline on how to treat others. To me it seems that alot of people have forgotten this. People tend to be out for themselves.
I hope everyone has had a good week. I look forward to seeing what others have to say.
Thanks,
Larry Davis
Hi Class,
The main thing that I took away from learning about cultural diversity, in regards to communication, is that there is no specific set of rules to follow to ensure that your message does not come across and confusing or misunderstood. I also really liked the advice that it is important to adapt your style so that the message you intend to send is the message the person you are communicating with receives. Since there are many differences between many cultures, I intend to put these new skills to use when the time comes to need them.
Enjoy your weekend and break,
Sarah
Hi class,
I will use the Diversity Iceberg, to pattern my cultural communication skills with others. This tend to have a great impact on the way others in different ethnic groups percieve my communication skill. It seems to be the a good tool to ponder.
Enjoy your spring break

Hello Class,
When communicating with different cultures, the Platiunum Rule is a great concept to follow. It helps us to accommodate the needs of others by learning and appreciating there preferences, cultural patterns, and communication styles. Knowing about the other culture, will allow for a respectful and understandable business relationship. The Platinum Rule can be applied universally across all contexts to help create effective global communication.
Have a great spring break!

Hello Everyone,
One key point that I am applying from this chapter is making sure that I take into consideration different personality types and of course different cultures. I can’t expect for every person to operate just like I do. In the business world it is very important to be aware of how others want things to be done. If its not considered, I think it could cause you to lose clients and their respect and trust. It is okay to be yourself but we all have to adjust the way we do things for the sake of building relationships and conducting business properly.
Everyone, enjoy your week off!

Hi Class,
I like the idea of posting on the blog. I think it’s kind of neat to be able to communicate with classmates that are outside of our team. I have really enjoyed this class. I feel like every week I am learning something that I can apply directly to my current job and life in general.
When it comes to cultural diversity, I feel that I can never know enough. I am fascinated about other cultures. I can directly apply this information to my job and encounter cultural differences among clients almost daily. I think that it is very important to be aware of different cultures, as well as your own, and to be able to see how cultures can effect communication. I also think that the Plantinum Rule is a great rule to follow when it’s unknown how to proceed.
Have a great Spring Break,
Debbie
Hello Class,
Communication deals with many different things, but cultural diversity is very important while communicating. We need to be sure that we understand someones background and be aware of culture differences. We all have different personalities and different ways that we view things depending on our culture. We want to make sure that our messages come across effectively and are able to understand. The platinum rule is very helpful. It is an outline of different cultural patterns and helps us understand the differences better.
I hope you have having a great break,
Brianne
